Benjamin A. Tobias, CFP®, CPA/PFS, CIMA®, president of Tobias Financial Advisors, is originally from the New York City area and has lived and worked in South Florida since 1975.

Professional and trade organization memberships include the Financial Planning Association, The Investment Management Consultants Association, The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The National Independent Financial Advisors Panel, and The Aegis Study Group. Mr. Tobias has also been a member of the TD Ameritrade Institutional Advisor Panel for 2005-2011.

Mr. Tobias was selected to participate in the filming of an internet series discussing investments and financial planning concerns. This program strives to educate the public through interactions with real people in authentic circumstances. The series appears on the MSN.com network and is called The Invested Life. Worth Magazine has selected Benjamin as one of its "Top 250 Wealth Advisors" in its 2008 listing and all of Worth Magazine's listings from 1996 through 2002.

Medical Economics Magazine honored him in their 2009 listing as one of the "150 Best Financial Advisers for Doctors", after being included in their prior listings since 1998.

Mr. Tobias was recognized by Reuters AdvicePoint in their listing of "Top Advisers 2008".

Since 1997, Mr. Tobias' biographical record is contained in the annual editions of Marquis' Who's Who in America.

Mutual Funds Magazine, which published listings of "100 Great Financial Planners" in 2001 and 2002, included Mr. Tobias in both of these listings.

Mr. Tobias is very active in his professional and personal communities. During 2007 Benjamin served as chairman and in 2006, as president of the Financial Planning Association of Broward County. Mr. Tobias is a past chair of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Professional Review in Denver, Colorado, and is also a past chair of the Investment Committee of the Jewish Community Foundation of the United Jewish Community of Broward County, Florida. He is also a past chairman and past president (having served as president 1992-1993) of the South Florida Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners – the predecessor to the Financial Planning Association. He is a charter officer and past president of the Rotary Club of Pembroke Pines.

Mr. Tobias has been quoted frequently in numerous publications as well as nationally syndicated columns including the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Chicago Tribune, and The Washington Post. He has also been quoted in The Miami Herald, The Sun Sentinel, Investment Advisor and TheStreet.com. Additionally, he has appeared in financial planning magazines and professional journals such as The Journal of Financial Planning and Medical Economics. He has been a guest on television and radio including PBS' Early Morning and Evening Business Report, as well as on WPLG, Channel 10, Miami/Fort Lauderdale's local ABC affiliate, and on WIOD radio.

In 2001 the Investment Management Consultants Association awarded Benjamin the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation.

In 1995, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants awarded him the designation of Personal Financial Specialist.

In 1988, Benjamin graduated from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado, and was awarded the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.

Benjamin has been an adjunct faculty member in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for both Florida State University and Nova Southeastern University as a lecturer of investment theory for students studying for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ examination.

After graduating from college, he worked for six years in the New York City and South Florida offices of what is now Deloitte and Touche. In 1980, he established his corporation, now known as Tobias Financial Advisors, located in Plantation, Florida, initially dedicated to the practice of accounting and later expanded into investment advisory and wealth management services.

Benjamin became a Certified Public Accountant in 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Bernard M. Baruch College of the City University of New York in 1973.
